How Much Is Your Blog Worth?
Tristan Louis did some math based on the Technorati metrics for all the blogs in the Weblogs Inc network vs. the $25 million the network reportedly sold for. Of course, a blog in a network is worth more than a blog by itself, but it still leaves you with a fun way of putting a price on your own blog.First, some notable blogs in the Weblogs network (go to Tristan for the whole list):
Engadget: $7.54 million
TUAW (Apple blog): $1.046 million
Google: $297,000
Microsoft: $148,000
Blogging E3: $564 (ouch!)
Blog Maverick (Marc Cuban): $1.082 million
Jason Calacanis: $646,000
The consumer blogs are far and away the most valuable, accounting for over $15 million of the $25 million.
Now, to perform some calculations on some of my favorite blogs. At $564 per inbound link, here are the values:
InsideGoogle: $1,231,776
InsideMicrosoft: $369,420
Google Blogoscoped: $3,223,260
Scoble: $6,990,780
Steve Rubel: $4,290,348
Search Engine Watch blog: $4,086,180
Coolz0r: $219,960 (and its still a relatively new blog!)
Randy Charles Morin (KBCafe.com): $946,392; RSS blog: $225,600; iBLOGthere4iM: $166,944; AdWords blog: $15,228
Search Engine Roundtable: $1,791,828 (quite a wedding present)
Oh, and Tristan’s own blog is worth $350,808. List any others you find interesting, that I missed, or your own blog.
